AUSTRALIAN SPORTS TURF INDUSTRY DESCENDS ON ADELAIDE FOR 2023 CONFERENCE, TRADE EXHIBITION
Across four days (19-22 June), more than 1000 delegates, exhibitors & trade show visitors attended the Adelaide Convention Centre to reconnect, network & learn in what was the industry's largest gathering of the year.
Our very own Superintendent, Jeff Powell, gave a great talk on effectively managing apprentices, drawing from his 34 years as a superintendent and seeing a number of his past apprentices go on to win the ASTMA Graduate of the Year Award.
Jeff spoke about mentoring apprentices, who are the future of our industry. He said that training apprentices to be able to work within a team environment is most important. However, also mentoring them along the way whilst they are working in the industry and at their Clubs so that, one day, they have the skills to be Fully Qualified Turf Managers.
