A great wrap up below from the Ballarat District Golf Association on today’s Junior Pennant Final. Congratulations to all players and everyone involved in the event and a big congratulations to the Ballarat golfers on an amazing effort! From all at the club congratulations!

Ballarat and Buninyong faced off in the 2018 BDGA Junior Pennant Final at Mount Xavier Golf Course today with Ballarat running out winners in a very competitive day’s golf.

Both sides played some outstanding golf in the fine conditions, but it was the boys from Ballarat who stepped up to capture the champions trophy, winning 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 over a gallant Buninyong.

Kieran Chapis (BAL) and Liam Howlett (BAL) got Ballarat off to a great start, scoring victories over Luke Inglis (BUN) 5/4 and James Inglis (BUN) 6/5 respectively, to go two up early in the clash.

An exciting battle followed between Joel Smith (BUN) and Ryan Wilson (BAL) with neither giving an inch before fighting out a well earned draw in the closest match of the final.

In the next match Brandon Davidson (BAL) got the better of Paddy Murphy (BUN), winning 5/4, to give Ballarat an unassailable lead.

David O’Donnell (BUN) got one back for Buninyong late in the day when he defeated Kacee Kirwan-Hamilton (BAL) 2Up in a tight affair.

All matches were of a high standard and played in great spirits, which is a credit to all involved.

The Ballarat District has plenty of talented young golfers ready to step up to the next level.

Congratulations to the Ballarat team who were worthy winners!
